What Is A Teeth Whitening Tray?

If you want to get whiter teeth but can’t afford whitening at the dentist, one of your options may be to buy a teeth whitening tray from your local supermarket or pharmacy. These are nowhere near as effective as going to a dentist, but they can still provide you with a good whitening.

So what exactly are teeth whitening trays? Basically they are a similar method to many dentists to use, but the only difference is the hydrogen peroxide that is used to whiten the teeth is at a lower concentration so you can’t burn or do any damage to your mouth. In the dentist chair he or she would use a much higher concentration peroxide to make sure that the bleaching is stronger.

However this doesn’t mean that teeth whitening trays at home cannot be effective. They will take longer and the whitening will have to be spread over a longer period of time, but they can make a difference. The other great thing is that they are a lot cheaper.

The problem with the generic whitening trays that you can get in your pharmacy is that they are not fitted for your teeth and hence whitening will not be even and you risk of some of the whitening agent leaking out the sides. To deal with this you can also buy custom key whitening trays which are a lot more like those used in the dentist chair. These are specifically made for your teeth, and hence will give the most even whitening and the most effective treatment.

The best teeth whitening trays are those that you can buy from your dentist, so if you go to visit him or her they may be to provide you with a high concentration bleaching agent to use in your trays. You should always talk it through with your dentist before you use teeth whitening trays just make sure that they are safe for you and the right option. However on the whole if you buy a teeth whitening tray from your pharmacy or dentist you can be sure that it will be safe, although the results you get may differ depending on many different factors.
