Teeth Whitening Gel

We talk a lot about the Hollywood A list on this site, mainly because I think that the obsession that many people have with getting white teeth comes from the fact that nearly all celebrities have pearly white teeth without a blemish on them. But is that realistic for the average person who can’t afford thousands of pounds worth of dental fees each year? That’s where teeth whitening gel comes into play, but how effective is it?

First of all, teeth whitening gels are specially made to try and get rid of the blemishes and discolorations that go along with the average teeth. Sometimes stains can be quite deep in the teeth which is why usual brushing doesn’t get rid of the yellowy colour, and that’s where gel comes into play. The idea is that the gel will go deeper and get rid of the harder to reach stains so that your teeth will look much better than they did before.

However the effectiveness varies. For the best teeth whitening gel you need to visit your dentist who will be able to use a high concentration that will give you a good whitening in a relatively short period of time. On the other hand if you buy over the counter teeth whitening gel it may not be as effective or it may take longer to do. This is because the concentration of the bleaching substance in the gel will be much lower to be safe.

A lot of teeth whitening gel uses hydrogen peroxide to get rid of the stains, although some also use carbamide peroxide teeth whitening gel. Some people claims that this is stronger, but you should always ask your dentist first before using any kind of bleaching agent on your teeth just o be safe. The last thing you want to do is damage your teeth by trying to bleach them, as it is far better to have a slightly yellower teeth than you want than to have no teeth at all!

Professional teeth whitening gel will do the job much quicker and more effectively, but in most cases it is only available to dentists so you will have to visit your one to see if it is possible it get.
