Natural Teeth Whitening Advice
It makes me cringe everytime I see a film on the TV. The stars have such perfectly white teeth that is no wonder we are becoming more and more obsessed with having white teeth. White teeth doesn’t always signify good healthy, strong teeth but it can be an indicator, so it’s no wonder we naturally love the look. The question is, can you get white teeth naturally or do you have to use some kind of product like teeth whitening trays?
There are plenty of natural methods for whitening your teeth, although not all of them are safe and some of them won’t even do the job. I always recommend that you use either a recommendation from your dentist or at least a dentist accredited product such as the aforementioned whitening trays, for the simple reason that there is no point getting white teeth if you are damaging them in the process. Natural teeth whitening is a wonderful idea, and in some cases it may work, but in others it may be a waste of time or even worse it may be damaging.
One example of a teeth whitening natural method is by using baking soda. There are many people who claim this works and does actually make your teeth whiter, although I have never tested it myself and wouldn’t recommend it unless you get approval from a dentist.
In general you should avoid drinking coca cola and coffee ( as well as sugary tea) for the general health and strength of your teeth. These wear away at the protective enamel of the teeth which isn’t good for their long term health. Drinking lots of water is much better for your teeth and will help keep them whiter.
You could also try going for one of the whitening toothpastes, although I think that the trays are probably more effective as they keep the bleaching agent on the teeth for a longer period of time allowing more chance of the whitening to take hold. Of course this isn’t very natural at all, but it definitely works and as long as you get the right one it should be safe!
Other supposed methods of natural teeth whitening include rubbing strawberries on the teeth, or orange peel, an even salt. Especially the salt one isn’t a good idea as it may cause damage to the teeth, although the other two are probably safe enough, but you shold always get the advice of a dentist before doing anything for a long period of time on your teeth.
