What Are Lingual Braces

If you want to straighten your teeth but don’t want to have to deal with the emotional difficulty of having metal wire brackets on your teeth then an option may be for you to get lingual braces. But what exactly are lingual braces? How much do they cost? And what is the different between them and normal braces?

Well first of all lingual braces differ from the normal metal braces in that they are placed on the inside of the teeth. This means they are invisible to anyone looking at the person so you can still have that winning smile even though you have braces on. The brackets are placed on the inside of teh teeth so the teeth look completely the same, which is great because for a lot of people the thought of having metal brackets on the front of you teeth for several years isn’t a good one.

The other great thing about lingual braces is that even though they straighten teeth in a different way they will not take any longer than a regular brace would. Even though the brace is on the inside and ant be seen you still want to get the treatment over with as soon as possible, and having lingual braces shouldn’t make a different to the timeline. Lingual braces before and after pictures should look the same as regular braces too which is important.

The downside is that lingual braces cost a lot of money. The increased cost of lingual braces can be significant in many cases – up to $10,000 or more for a set- – but you should definitely talk to your dentist to see how much it would cost you. Everyone is different and everyone needs the braces for a different amount of time which is why it’s important to make sure you talk it through with your dentist before hand to see whether it is a suitable option for you to wear a lingual brace.

Overall lingual braces can make it a lot easier for someone to have braces because they don’t have the psychological impact of knowing that their teeth are covered in metal brackets. They are usual suitable for anyone, and the only downside is that they tend to cost a lot more than other kinds of brace which may make that not suitable for you if you are on a tight budget. However they are definitely something to consider if you are going to get braces, but talk to your dentist about them as he or she will be able to provide you with the most accurate information.
