Guide To Getting Braces Off
I remember when I was younger, having braces was pretty though. Most of the time you have braces when you are going through your teenage years and hence at your most conscious, so when you get braces off it is a wonderful relief and really a day to celebrate. But what can you expect when you get your braces off? Will it hurt? And how complicated is it? These are all questions that I wish I had answers too when I had my braces off, but with the internet it is now much easier to find out.
First of all when you get your braces taken off it is usually quite a simple procedure and there really isn’t anything to worry about. Just enjoy it! It doesn’t take very long, and if all has gone well when your dentist takes your brace off you will never have to wear anything like it again. Getting braces off should be a special day, so I went out for a meal with some friends after to celebrate – have something planned and look forward to that afterwards.
One of the things that is a bit strange is that the dentist has to scrape off the cement used on the teeth to keep the braces in place with an instrument. This feels a bit strange but doesn’t hurt, and it isn’t something you should worry about. If you can feel any of the cement still on your teeth you should tell your dentist who will be able to get rid of it for you.
Taking off braces is actually a bit anti-climactic! After struggling with them for so long many people think it is going to be a big procedure to get them off, but in general that isn’t the case, although it is sometimes more complicated depending on what you have had the braces for and which braces have been used. If you are worried you should ask your dentist about it before hand to get an idea of what you are going to have gone. Being able to say I’ve got my braces off is a wonderful feeling, so good luck with getting them off! One thing I remember when having braces off is that your teeth feel really smooth and surreal to begin with, but that’s completely normal.
